Passenger classification issue forces super-coupe back to the dealer.
Mercedes-AMG has recalled the GT and GT S, over concerns about the front passenger seat classification system.
According to the company, the software responsible for classifying the passenger mightn’t function correctly. That means a child seat could be classified as a person, or a small person could be marked as a child seat.
That could mean the airbag remains activated when a child seat is installed, or might not activate when there’s a small, light passenger in the seat. Both potential outcomes pose an injury risk to the passenger, albeit in different ways.
A total of 10 units are included in the recall – a VIN list is attached here.
Mercedes-AMG will contact affected owners and advise them to get in touch with their local dealer for a free fix.
