What does he think of the all-electric four-door?
After ending his Formula 1 career with Red Bull Racing, Mark Webber made the switch t0 World Endurance Championship (WEC) racing with Porsche.
He’s not competing anymore, but the Porsche partnership isn’t over. In a promotional video for the upcoming all-electric Mission E, the Australian racer is let loose on the Weissach test track – with plenty of cameras on hand, naturally – to see what he thinks.
Porsche is making some bold claims about the Mission E, its first pure-electric car. In an interview with in-house media, Oliver Blume, Porsche CEO, said the car will “redefine” the world of high-performance electric cars.
“Well over a year ago, we switched all our plants to 100% natural electricity sources, which underlines how seriously we take sustainability,” Blume said.
“The Mission E will not only redefine the high-performance e-vehicle segment, it will also give a boost to Germany as a technology producer and thus to possibilities offered by electro-mobility in general.”
We know the car will produce more than 447kW of power for a sub-3.5-second sprint to 100km/h. Range is expected to be north of 500km and, with the right chargers, the car will run from 0km to 80 per cent range in just 15 minutes.
“It will set standards and will represent motion in more than one sense,” Blume said of the ground-breaking EV.
“The only things that the Mission E will not offer are boredom and forbearance.”
