Those wheels are a throwback to the DC2 Integra Type R, but they don’t come cheap.
Honda has announced a new range of carbon-fibre accessories and a set of forged wheels for the Civic Type R.
The headlining option is a new set of forged alloy wheels designed to hark back to legendary Type R models past. They’re finished in white, and measure the same 20-inches as the standard units but shave 2.1kg per corner, for an 8.4kg saving in unsprung weight.
They’ll also lighten your wallet to the tune of $13,999.
On the carbon-fibre front, there will be five options: a new wing spoiler, a rear diffuser garnish, new mirror caps, carbon-fibre interior trim and carbon door sills.
All the add-ons have a unique red weave throughout, in keeping with the red detailing already prevalent around the Type R. The wing gets a carbon centre piece and costs $2899, while the diffuser garnish will set you back $1999.
The mirror caps cost $1299, the interior trim $1699, and the door sills $1599.
“Simply put, there is no other Honda vehicle in the last decade that has been as passionately received in Australia as this latest Civic Type R,” said Honda Australia director, Stephen Collins.
“We believe there is a niche market for bespoke, low volume items that will appeal to motoring enthusiasts and it is very important for us to support these customers with the very best that Honda globally has to offer.”
With all the (limited, optional) parts fitted, a new Civic Type R could set you back $74,484 – that’s $50,990 as the base price, and $23,494 in options.
The parts will be available through dealers on October 1.
