Which Prancing Horse would you pick?
Customisation is in vogue at the moment, but choice can be seriously confusing. In our new configurator challenge, we’re going to let the CarAdvice team loose on a manufacturer’s website to create their ideal spec of a certain model.
For this edition of the Configurator Challenge, we’re designing our perfect Ferrari – yep, we’ve let the team loose on the entire range this week!

Mmmm, Ferrari. This week was a fun one, that’s for sure. There will be members of the team who think a real Prancing Horse needs a V12 and, while there’s certainly an argument to be made, the 488 GTB is too handsome to ignore. Forget grand touring, this is a proper sports car.
Step one in creating the perfect 488 is Azzuro California paint, selected from the Ferrari Heritage palette. It’s stunning, subtle, but eye-catching in a way none of the standard colours can mimic. I’ve added ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ shields to the car’s flanks, too.
Smaller wheels usually win out in my configurations, but these 20-inch forged, dark-painted rims were too tempting. They’re stunning, and contrast beautifully with the shimmering blue paint.
The only other options I’ve added outside are a carbon-fibre rear diffuser and engine cover. Not cheap, presumably, but very pretty.
Like any good Ferrari, my 488 GTB has beige – Crema, to be precise – leather seats in the ‘Daytona Racing’ style. Pale blue carpets are a nod to the exterior paint, while the carbon dashboard and centre tunnel inserts match the rear diffuser.
Along with the carbon trim, my car has a fire extinguisher and soft luggage set. Perfection, thy name is 488 GTB. Well, my 488 GTB, anyway.

Call me a diva, but if I’m going to spend a six-figure sum on a supercar it better be liveable for daily duties – hence I chose the 812 Superfast over the 488.
Now, my switch to other colours wasn’t appreciated last week – no one chose mine as the top choice – so I’ve gone back to what makes a ‘Wongy Spec’ a ‘Wongy Spec’, opting for the lovely “Verde British’ exterior paint (Italian for British Green). Before you call me crazy, there’s a bright green Superfast running around Melbourne right now, so at least one other person has taste.
Contrasting with the green paint are carbon-fibre components for the front wing, rear diffuser, front and rear bumper inserts, along with 20-inch dark-painted forged wheels, ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ emblems on the front fenders, and ‘Giallo’ Modena brake calipers – green and gold because Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!
For the inside, I’ve picked Beige Tradizione for the seats, lower dash, and door inserts, contrasted with Terra Bruciata for the top tier including the roof. The steering wheel, carpets and top-stitching, meanwhile, are finished in Nero.
The seats themselves are of the carbon-fibre racing variety, and to complement the exterior colour I’ve gone for a Verde horse stitched into the headrests for a pop of colour.
More carbon-fibre lines the central bridge on the console along with the door sill kick plates – because you can never have too much carbon –while the quilted leather headliner just screams bougie.
Rounding out my specification sheet is a display for the passenger, which puts a little LCD panel between the upper and lower sections of the dash on the passenger’s side, so whoever is riding shotgun can see how fast my Superfast really is.

I’ve always loved non-red Ferraris. There’s something quintessentially cool about being rebellious or bucking the trend, and having a car that is so closely tied to the vibrant ‘Rosso’ and ordering it in anything but, well, it really prances my horse.
As much as I love the mid-engined V8s, the Pista isn’t yet on the configurator so I’ve gone in the other direction and it has to be the slightly more ‘subtle’ 812 Superfast.
For the exterior colour, I’ve gone Azzurro California. This metallic light blue-ish silver accentuates the curves and stunning body work of the 812 so incredibly well, and having such an overtly-styled car in such an understated colour just screams cool.
I picked the matte-black forged racing rims, because it’s an 812 “Superfast” – so it needs the most “super fast” rims. The calipers are finished in Grigio Silverstone because red, yellow or gold is just too showy.
For the body components I’ve gone for carbon-fibre bloody everywhere. I’m a huge F1 fan and the carbon-fibre links Ferrari’s F1 roots to the modern day. The exhaust is finished in titanium because once it heats up, it’ll match the paint work very nicely.
Inside, so many Ferraris are styled with Rosso for the exterior and a variant of Crema for the interior, so why not do the polar opposite? Charcoal leather and Alcantara for the larger surface areas, Blu Medio Alcantara for the highlights and smaller sections with Filo special Bianco stitching, literally tying it all together.
Daytona racing seats to sway the big GT back into the supercar genre and carbon-fibre details everywhere else. Finish it off with a white rev counter and blue Horse stitching on the headrest and there you have my perfect Ferrari – until the Pista comes online.

After a break last week, I am back to bring you the Melissa Ong version of yet another car. Introducing my Ferrari 488 GTB in Bianco Avus (White) with a Rosso Ferrari interior (Red).
Before I begin, I had to tell you that I was tempted to go red only because it’s a Ferrari, and it’s almost criminal not to choose a red Ferrari. Alas, I stuck to my guns. This is my Ferrari after all. Not yours.
Starting on the exterior, nothing beats black rims. I’ve gone with the 20-inch forged wheels along with Rosso Scuderia brake calipers to complete the ‘Melissa Ong look’. Because I like carbon, I added carbon fog-lights, under-door covers and engine cover.
Anti-stone chipping was also a feature high on my list, in addition to front and rear sensors/camera and a suspension lifter (even the Maccas drive-thru is out to get you these days, so you never know).
Inside, I’ve chosen red leather with black stitching. I added the Ferrari horse stitched into the head rests so my passengers know I went all out. I went for Daytona Racing seats with diamond stitching. The steering wheel has been laced with carbon also, because carbon-fibre is life.
Last but not least, I added the premium HiFi system so I can jam out to Akon and Ja Rule on RnB Fridays in style. I added a fire extinguisher too – on a car this hot, you need it.
Don’t act like you wouldn’t go full Melissa Ong on this car…

“Mum! Scollie just called my GTC4 Lusso a bus!” I guess the idea of a 12-cylinder, four seat grand tourer with all-wheel drive surety is lost on him, but hey, someone has to be wrong and it’s not me, buddy.
Despite the sickly beige shown on the configurator, the Grigio Ingrid exterior I’ve chosen is actually a breathtaking shimmering gold hue (go on, Google it, I’ll wait), resting over diamond-finished 20-inch split spoke alloys for a clear view of the Blu brake calipers.
The exterior also scores a panoramic roof, chrome grille fins, along with carbon finishes for the lower splitter, side sills, and guard vents. The optional sports exhaust ensures an uninterrupted symphony from the 507kW 6.3-litre V12 while the suspension lifter means no harm will come to the achingly chiselled front lip.
Ferrari knows colour and trim, and Blu Medio leather on the Daytona-patterned seats, roof lining and seat backs pairs with Alcantara finishes (again in Blue Medio) for the steering wheel, centre console, door grips, and lower dash. Subtlety is key, though, with just a sliver of beige for the stitching, contrast elements, console inserts, and prancing horse logos.
As the GTC4 Lusso is close to perfect as is, options can be kept to a minimum, but an aluminium-faced tacho, high power HiFi, an upgraded 128GB hard drive, and custom luggage set are non-negotiable additions. Passengers get to play along with the driving fun too, thanks to the passenger telemetry display.
Looks like I’ll have to BYO skis, but nothing says long weekend in the Alps quite like a shooting brake from the prancing horse, don’t cha think?

I had the chance to drive a Ferrari FF from Maranello to Monaco and back once and it was a stack of fun. So, that’s why I went and chose the Ferrari that nobody else does, well, other than Kez – the GTC4 Lusso.
And, like Adam, red is overrated, so I went with Blu Abu Dhabi exterior with blacked-out wheels and shadow chrome highlights.
Inside I went with a Tortora-coloured interior, along with Apple CarPlay and the passenger display.
