Chevrolet takes aim at Ford’s off-roader, the F-150 Raptor, with tough accessories for its Colorado ZR2.
Chevrolet has revealed its answer to the Ford F-150 Raptor, with a raft of race-ready upgrades for its Colorado ZR2 pickup truck.
Developed by Chevrolet Performance engineering, as part of a collaboration with Multimatic and Hall Racing, the parts are designed to make the ZR2 ready to tackle the Baja 1000 desert race.

The front and rear tracks have been widened by 3.5 inches (8.9 centimetres), and the suspension has been raised by 2.0in (5.1cm) for ground clearance. Adjusted versions of the Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve (DSSV) dampers offer 15 per cent more travel than stock at the front, and 10 per cent more at the rear.
There are new, functional rock rails, and the bumpers have been adjusted for a better approach/departure angle. Not enough? A steel driveshaft designed to offer greater obstacle clearance, while a set of ball-spline half-shafts will be offered in search of greater articulation.
Those chasing greater rear-axle travel can option a long-travel leaf-spring system, designed to better direct the wheels into the middle of the wheel arch in extreme scenarios. It also better accommodates the kind of payloads common in off-road racing, in keeping with Chevrolet’s goal of making the car Baja-ready.
A range of extra protectors for the differentials, and extra body bracing, rounds out the options list. Prices range from US$562.50 ($770) for tweaked upper control-arm ball joints, to US$4187.50 ($5800) for long-travel DSSV front shocks.
