Range of motorsport inspired enhancements to add style, not performance.
BMW has announced a range of optional M Performance accessories for its upcoming 2019 X5.
The range of parts bring no performance upgrades to the X5, instead focusing on interior and exterior enhancements.
On the outside, enhancements include a range of components such as a larger front air intake, front and rear bumper winglets, a larger rear diffuser and unique mirror-caps; all in carbon-fibre.
Buyers can also choose from 20-inch matte black wheels with all-terrain tyres, or lightweight 22-inch M Performance wheels, which reduce unsprung weight by approximately four kilograms.
Also available are four-piston aluminium M Performance sport brakes, with larger-than-standard 19-inch discs and red callipers.
Inside, buyers can opt for race-inspired carbon-fibre trim, sportier floor mats and stainless steel pedals. Additionally, an Alcantara and carbon-fibre steering wheel will be available, with a red centre marking at the 12 o’clock position.
Finally, BMW will offer its M Performance Drive Analyser, which provides the driver with extensive logging and analysis options of both the car’s performance as well as the owner’s driving.
The analyser works with an OBD stick that can be plugged into the car’s diagnostic port, syncing with a smartphone app that displays a range of information such as GPS positioning and lap times. Ideal for the school run.
BMW Australia is currently assessing local homologation and supply for these parts, but it is more than likely that we will get the parts, given their availability across BMW’s other models.
