Hot on the heels of BMW Access in the the USA, BMW UK has teamed up with Drover to offer a flexible, monthly subscription plan for its vehicles.
As is the case with similar plans from Volvo, subscribers pay a single, monthly fee covering insurance, servicing, taxes and roadside assistance, along with access to the BMW 1-, 2-, 3-, 4- and 5 Series model lines, along with the brand’s X models and iPerformance offerings.
Access to Mini Hatch models is also available. The payments start at £495 ($904) monthly, and run to £985 ($1800) for top-spec 4 Series and low-grade 5 Series models.
“New, creative solutions allow the chance for car users to experience BMW or Mini ownership for as long or as little as they require. BMW Group UK is at the forefront of such development and we are excited to announce a partnership with Drover, the car subscription platform,” said Chris Brownridge, BMW UK sales director.
“Through its new subscription model we are able to provide an even wider range of ways to access BMW and Mini vehicles for retail buyers to suit their changing requirements.”
BMW UK isn’t alone in diving into the world of subscriptions. Volvo used the XC40 to debut the new ‘Care by Volvo’ plan, which allows people to pay monthly for access to a car and all the associated maintenance for US$600 ($775) per month and up.
We contacted BMW Australia after the US program’s launch, and confirmed there are no plans to bring something similar Down Under. Given the UK service is a partnership with a European company, the story is the same this time around.
