Limited-run models now on sale in the US, ruled out for Australia
Subaru of America has revealed a pair of limited editions in the form of the WRX and WRX STI Series.Gray, bringing a unique exterior finish and some equipment enhancements to the all-wheel drive tearaway.
Launched at the 2018 Subaru Tecnica International Boxerfest over the weekend, Series.Gray production is limited to 750 WRX and 250 WRX STI examples – arriving in North American dealers in fall, or the Australian spring.
The WRX Series.Gray is available exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission, priced from US$32,595 ($42,653).
Key features include the new Cool Gray Khaki exterior paint, ‘Crystal Black Silica’ badging and side mirrors, along with a black finish for the 18-inch alloy wheels.
Since it’s based on the WRX Premium specification, the Series.Gray gets Ultrasuede Recaro seats, eight-way power adjustment for the driver, Jurid front brake pads, adaptive LED headlights and fog-lights, along with keyless access and push-button start.
Meanwhile, the WRX STI Series.Gray is priced from US$39,695 ($51,944), and gets the same Cool Gray Khaki exterior paint, black badging and black finish for the 19-inch alloy wheels.
Other highlights include silver Brembo brake calipers, black Ultrasuede seat trim with Carbon Black leather bolsters, Ultrasuede steering wheel with red stitching, unique Bilstein STI sport-tuned suspension with Bilstein dampers, eight-way powered driver’s seat, along with keyless entry and push-button start.
Subaru’s local division has confirmed with CarAdvice there are “no plans” to bring the Series.Gray limited editions Down Under.
