Facelifted coupe surfaces online ahead of Paris debut on October 2.
The updated Lexus RC has been officially revealed by the company’s European division today, ahead of an official debut at the Paris motor show in October 2.
UPDATE, 30/8/18: Lexus Europe has revealed more images of the updated RC (pictured in red), with deliveries in that region commencing in “late 2018”. Australian details are still to come.
Its first major update since launching in 2014, the new RC sports a subtly updated design front and rear, including new headlights with an integrated L-shaped LED daytime-running light signature, new bumpers, and a revised mesh for the spindle grille that changes from top to bottom.
At the rear, there’s revised tail-lights with a more distinctive L-shaped lenses, in keeping with the wider Lexus range. There’s also new alloy wheel designs, including the 19-inch units pictured here that were apparently inspired by those on the LC and LS.
Less noticeable changes have been made in the cabin, though Lexus says there are new Dark Gray Streamline elements for the heater control panel and audio panel, while “enlarged knee pads” have been raised to give a “heightened sense of space”.
F Sport models will be available with Dark Gray Streamline trim inserts, with a total of six different ornamentation options available. Trainspotters may notice the new analogue clock mounted in the dashboard taken straight from the LC.
Additionally, there are seven different interior colourways available across the range, including the exclusive F Sport schemes.
Rounding out the updates are changes to the aerodynamics, suspension and powertrain to improve stability, ride quality and handling characteristics, according to the Japanese marque.
The new fin shape on the side window mould and rear bumper duct are claimed to enhance air flow for enhanced stability, while the new 19-inch wheels and respective tyre package offer “increased grip” and “excellent steering response”.
Lexus has also added stiffer suspension bushings along with new shock absorbers for “significant damping force”, which the company says helps to deliver “extremely supple ride quality and razor-sharp handling”.
We’ve reached out to Lexus’s local division for further comment regarding the updated RC, and are awaiting a response.
