2019 Chevrolet Camaro topples Ford Mustang

Chevrolet split opinion with the 2019 Camaro, eschewing a sleek face for a fussier look in line with the brand’s wider range, but that hasn’t stopped the GM Pony Car from taking down the Ford Mustang in our latest poll.

A handy 57 per cent of respondents preferred the Camaro to the (also facelifted) Mustang. Along with the new front end, the facelifted Chevrolet runs with new tail-lights, bumpers and a fresh rear diffuser, along with the option of a 10-speed automatic transmission in place of the current car’s eight-speeder.

The 1LE handling package has been added to the options list on four-cylinder cars, while the entire range is now offered with a 7.0- or 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard.

We’ll actually be getting the Camaro in Australia, albeit a version converted to right-hand drive by HSV. Prices are set to kick off around $90,000.
