Q8 design cues adorn go-fast family hauler in latest images.
The facelifted Audi SQ7 has been snapped by photographers for the first time, giving us an early preview of the variant set to serve as flagship when the updated SUV lands.
Following shortly after images of the standard Q7 surfaced, the SQ7 prototype here shows a little more detail as to what to expect from the mid-life refresh.
Up front the re-jigged headlights have the striped LED daytime-running light signature featuring on the related Q8 ‘coupe’ and the little A1 hatchback – something we didn’t see on the normal Q7 earlier this week – indicating this particular vehicle is fitted with higher-grade lighting units, probably Matrix LEDs.
The Q8-inspired cues continue with restyled bumpers with larger intakes, and a revised front grille treatment.
Out the back, the SQ7 prototype gets rounded quad tailpipe finishers compared to the current model’s squared-off units. We’re expecting minor revisions to the sheetmetal of the tailgate and bumper under that swirly black-and-white camouflage, while revised LED tail-light internals should be added to later versions.
As for the powertrain, it’s unclear whether there will be any updates to the current model’s 320kW/900Nm 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 diesel, which also features electric-powered compressor technology.
We’d argue small power and torque bumps are likely, along with revisions to make the SQ7 more efficient and emit less. Who knows, we could see mild-hybrid technology added too.
Timing isn’t confirmed at this stage, but the updated Q7 range is expected to be revealed sometime next year. Stay tuned to CarAdvice for all the latest, and click here for more images.
